After spending a lot of time meeting with interesting people wanting to be a part of our Melbourne Franchise, Sexy Floors are proud to have Basil and Caroline Kouts on board.  Basil and Caroline are a great compliment to our brand.

Even before Basil and Caroline heard of Sexy Floors, they understood epoxy and the benefits of decorative concrete coatings.  When they thought it was time for an update (after having an epoxy floor for 15 years), they found Sexy Floors.  It was then they realised the vast improvement since the mid 1990’s and were impressed so much, they decided to buy the Melbourne franchise.  They were already epoxy floor converts and wanted to make this environmentally friendly flooring finish available to homes and businesses throughout Victoria.

“The product is incredibly versatile in terms of colour and finish options, and the result is high quality”, said Basil.

Having been in business for over 20 years, customer service comes naturally to both Basil and Caroline. “It’s something that isn’t always offered in this industry, so we are looking forward to offering a professional experience for our customers and giving them a unique, designer floor … with a difference”.

Sexy Floors have a unique style when it comes to polished concrete. We jazz it up with aluminium highlights to give you what we call a ‘transluscent aluminium’ look.

Polished concrete is one of our more popular finishes as it’s interchangeable and matches with any colour fixture or fittings. That’s why we call it the ‘little black dress of flooring’ – it looks good on it’s own but you can dress it up or dress it down and is one of those classic finishes that never dates.

Sexy Floors lay exactly that – sexy floors.  However a recent customer called for more than a unique concrete coating on the floor.  The owners wanted a seamless theme all throughout their guest bedroom.  This meant the floor, the walls and the ceiling needed to be the exact same finish.  What resulted was a chic ancient Turkish bath look, all in an open plan bedroom.

This timeless, minimalist style opens the room while giving character to the story of the room.  However, if at any time the owners wanted to update their décor, they can do it without changing the surrounds because this type of colour compliments any colour.  Essentially, this means they can change the story without ripping out the whole book.

Our high quality product is the most durable flooring surface in the world as well as being environmentally friendly, VOC free, fire tested and seamless.  However, high quality doesn’t equal expensive.  You don’t need to compromise on your design.   lso, our surfaces can be cleaned by vacuum, mop or hose – making it ideal indoors and outdoors.

Sexy Floors are proud to have helped during the recent Brisbane flood disaster.  How?  Our business is in the business of laying near flood proof floors.  After the massive flood of 2011, Sexy Floor affected customers in Brisbane called with some wonderful news.  They reported that after the contaminated water subsided and after a good scrub, the floor came up just like new.  No need for the dump truck, no need for a quote on a replacement floor and one less thing for them to worry about.  Some of our commercial customers only suffered a short shutdown period whereas their neighbouring shops weren’t so lucky.

Not only can sexy floors withstand water, but on the flip side, they’re fire proof.  These two facts alone give piece of mind.  This comes down to our mantra that we want our customers to have a healthy floor.  So much so, our credentials extent to having a product that is environmentally friendly and VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) free.  To add to this, all of our finishes are durable and seamless.  Having a seamless floor means the germs and contaminates have no-where to hide.  Also, okay, we’ll say it, all sexy floors are good looking.

Sexy Floors are in a fortunate position.  We have a flourishing business and have a great group of hard working staff and franchises.  We’re living the dream.  However over the past twelve months, we’ve been hearing first hand from customers about the heartbreak of sudden natural disasters.

When our customers call and order a floor, we know we’re only a small part of their road to recovery.  However, we’d like to think we give them something very special.  Sexy Floors’ mantra is ‘laying designer floors at affordable prices’.  This has always been our mantra and always will be.

Why?  Because every day we get to be creative.  It starts from the clever marketing campaigns and ends with our one-of-a-kind flooring designs.  We believe in our product and service so much, it resonates and the whole experience becomes exciting.  Fun becomes contagious.  Some customers have even cried with delight over our creations and for us, that’s what it’s all about.

But our TLC isn’t limited to people.  We take our environmental responsibility very seriously.  This was highlighted in late 2010 when we won the “HIA Greensmart: Product Of The Year Award”.  We certainly don’t work to win awards but it’s wonderful to be recognised not only for our great product but because of dedication to delivering something that exceeds environmental standards.

Sexy Floors is proud to announce the opening of their Darwin Northern Territory Franchise.  It’s a match made in ‘green heaven’.

New Franchise owners, Yvette and Zac Garrett have a lot in common with Sexy Floors.  In 2010, between them, Sexy Floors and Garrett Homes won, two out of the eight highly sought after HIA Greensmart Awards.  Sexy Floors won in the category of ‘Product Of The Year’ and Garrett Homes won for excellence in ‘Energy Efficiency’.  The judges commented that the Garrett’s won for their ‘well integrated energy efficient home in a somewhat challenging area’.

Garrett Homes has a solid reputation in the industry for home design excellence.  Zac Garrett is a third generation builder who has worked in the building industry for twenty years.

Zac believes in encouraging people to build sustainable homes incorporating alternative energy & water conservation.  He is always researching and looking for new products that are kinder to our planet.  We believe in offering unique services to our clients ‘ we never build the same house twice’ which is why Sexy Floors will be a perfect match.

His business compliment, Yvette Garrett is highly experienced in the administrative arena and looks forward to her new administrative and client liaison role.

World first environmentally friendly flooring wins HIA GreenSmart Product Award

Queensland-based Sexyfloors Australia is the winner of the HIA GreenSmart Product of the Year Award.

The HIA-Boral GreenSmart Awards recognise the best in environmentally responsible housing.

Epoxy flooring is an innovative product and first of its kind to hit the world stage. The epoxy resin is space age technology that can be used both inside and outside. Together with its creative and unique designs, it can be applied to residential, commercial and industrial applications.

“It’s a showcase for products that have reduced embodied impacts. It looks great and is impressively comparable in price,” the judges said.

“It was also recently awarded the GECA tick approval for environmentally floors, an accolade to the company for its product,” the judges said.

Congratulating Sexyfloors Australia, HIA Managing Director Shane Goodwin said the HIA-Boral GreenSmart Awards represent the latest and best in environmentally responsible housing.

“The awards recognise the growing contribution HIA builders are voluntarily making in making new homes greener and more liveable,” Mr Goodwin said.

“The HIA GreenSmart program continues to play a significant role in keeping industry members and consumers aware of environmentally responsible housing,” Mr Goodwin said.

The awards ceremony was held on October 15 at the MAIA Docklands, Melbourne. Crace is a HIA GreenSmart leader and partner of this award.

On 15 October 2010, the HIA Greensmart Awards were held in Melbourne. We’re proud to announce that Sexy Floors won the Product of the Year Award!

The HIA will release their official press release shortly, including a list of complimentary comments from the judges as to why we won this prestigious Award. Once we get the information, we’ll share it with you.

In the meantime, the Awards were held at MAIA at Docklands and were attended by industry heavyweights, home industry innovators and businesses committed to the environment. The Awards ranged from energy efficiency to environmentally friendly design to excellence in building and construction.

When Sexy Floors won the Award, Table Four, dubbed the Sexy table, saw a round of cheers and tears. Kelvin Shaw raced to the podium to collect his well deserved Award while the Sexy Floor teams cheered and burst into tears. After ten years of hard work and dedication to our product, it was always great to be nominated for Product of the Year but to win it was a wonderful recognition that you can be environmentally friendly, innovative, creative and most importantly, be sexy while doing it.

The annual GreenSmart Awards is Australia’s original and longest running Awards dedicated to recognising excellent in environmentally responsible home design, construction and renovation. The Award ceremony will be held in Melbourne on 15 October 2010.

These Awards are product based, which means we’re up against the best and most innovative environmentally friendly building products in Australia. Last years’ finalists ranged from Energy & Water monitoring, to energy efficient white good appliances, to solar panels and Eco Bricks. If last years’ nominations are anything to go by, we’re up against some stiff competition and we love it!
